Located in Aomori Prefecture, Iwai Tateyama Shrine is dedicated to Tateyama Okami and Tateyama Hoshi-gami, two deities believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune. The shrine's architecture is typical of a Shinto shrine from the Kamakura period, with a wooden torii gate and a simple yet elegant main hall.

To purify your mind and body before visiting the shrine, take a walk around the adjacent Iwai Tateyama Park and rinse your hands at the temizuya fountain.

Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1899 after being destroyed by fire in 1871.
