八幡神社

Aomori

Located in Aomori Prefecture, Eight Horseshoe Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of prosperity and good fortune. The shrine's name 'Hachimantai' actually refers to Hachiman, the god of war, but its current name reflects its association with the eight-horseshoe symbol, said to ward off evil spirits. Founded in 718 CE during the Nara period, the shrine has maintained its significance as a sacred site for local residents and travelers alike.
