Aomori

Located in Aomori Prefecture, Tazewa-no-ya Hachiman-gu is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman. The shrine's name, 'Tazewa', refers to Mount Iwaki, located nearby. This shrine was founded during the Heian period (794-1185) and is famous for its stunning mountain scenery. Visitors can take in the beautiful views from the observation deck on the 12th floor of the shrine's main hall.

Cultural notes

Historical note

The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in the late 19th century, during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
