Located in the heart of Sapporo, Kasumigaseki Castle Park's adjacent Nanseidani Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the cedar tree god, Nanseidai. This shrine, dedicated to the cedar tree deity in Hokkaido, has a long history dating back to the early 20th century when it was relocated from its original location on the island of Shikotsu.

Visitor tip
Be sure to try some local cedar-infused sweets, known as 'katsura-manju', available at nearby food stalls during peak season.

Nanseidai is revered for its association with good luck, prosperity, and longevity. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossom viewing spots and traditional Japanese sweets.
