Hikarimaru-ha Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, that enshrines the soul of Hikarimaru, a young fisherman who died at sea. According to legend, Hikarimaru was born without hands and feet, but after his death, his body transformed into a boat, which is now enshrined at the shrine. Visitors can pray for safe passage at sea, successful fishing, or good luck in business ventures.

Visitor tip

This shrine is particularly famous for its annual Shichimen Matsuri (Seven-Column Festival), where a giant boat is paraded through the streets of Ishinomaki, symbolizing Hikarimaru's journey to the afterlife.
