Located in the city of Nikkʼn, Fujikura Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Tamazunokami Okami, the kami enshrined at this site. The shrine is famous for its well-preserved Heian period (794-1185 CE) architecture and is said to be one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan. The shrine's name, Fujikura, literally means 'firm, strong mountain,' reflecting the surrounding natural landscape.
