Located in the city of Nikko, Gunma Prefecture, Hōdo Shrine is dedicated to Fujin, the god of wind and storms. Cultural notes
As one of Japan's Three Great Shrines dedicated to Fujin, Hōdo Shrine is also believed to be the site where Fujin performed a miracle by calming the sea off the coast of Nikko. Visitors can see the shrine's large stone monument commemorating this event.
