Tsukimi no Michi Shinto shrine, located in Fukuoka Prefecture, is dedicated to the kami of Ryujin and Inari. Visitors can admire the shrine's traditional architecture, including the vermilion torii gate and the five-story pagoda. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful gardens and the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, which celebrates the arrival of spring.

Visitor tip

To fully appreciate the shrine's beauty, visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and try some local sake at the nearby tsukimi no michi tea house.

Cultural notes

Tsukimi no Michi is also connected to the legend of Tsukiyomi, a kami associated with the moon. The shrine's gardens are said to be inspired by this mythological connection.

Historical note

Established in 744 CE by Prince Naganari, a descendant of Emperor Shomu.
