Located in the heart of Yokote City, Revat Oak Mountain Shrine is dedicated to the god of agriculture and fertility, and also enshrines the god of prosperity, good fortune and happiness. The shrine is nestled within a beautiful forested area, known as Yama-no-Oka, with many trees believed to be ancient and revered by the local people. In the Edo period, this mountain was famous for its high quality oak wood, which was used in traditional Japanese crafts.

Revat Oak Mountain Shrine is associated with the legend of the 'Sakaki' tree, which is believed to have healing properties and is often given as an offering at Shinto shrines. The shrine also holds a unique festival, 'Yama-no-Oka Matsuri', which celebrates the mountain's sacred status and features local craftsmen showcasing their skills.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in the late Muromachi period, during the 16th century, based on a legend of an ancient cedar tree that stood on the site and is said to have healed people of illness. The mountain's natural hot springs also contributed to its sacred status.
