Tategiwa Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the heart of Akita Prefecture, dedicated to the protection and prosperity of the city of Aomori. The shrine is also known as Godai-ya or Kaido-ya, named after its main gate, which has been preserved since the 17th century. Tategiwa Shrine has a long history dating back to the 12th century and is famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional architecture.

Visitor tip

To fully experience the shrine's beauty, visit during cherry blossom season (late April to early May) when the trees are adorned with vibrant pink flowers.
