八幡宮

Aomori

Located in Aomori Prefecture, Eight Samurai Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the legendary eight samurai who defended the island of Tsushima from Mongol invaders in 1274 and 1281. The shrine's name "Eighty-Nine" refers to the famous Battle of Bun'ei, where the samurai successfully repelled the invasion. Visitors can explore the shrine's main hall, which features a large stone statue of Taira no Kiyomori, one of the eight samurai.
