Cultural notes
The temple is closely associated with the mythology of the Okappus, a Shinto god believed to protect fishermen and sailors. During the annual 'Okappusu' festival in July, visitors can experience traditional folk dances, music, and food, as well as participate in a ritual boat race on the nearby waters.
Historical note
The temple was founded in 1863 by the Aomori Domain during the late Edo period.
