足王神社 is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. Dedicated to the spirit of Prince Ato, also known as Atsuwami no Mikoto, it is said to have been built during the Nara period (794-804 CE). As one of the oldest shrines in Japan, it showcases traditional Japanese architecture and Shinto traditions.

Cultural notes
As a Nara-period shrine, 足王神社 features traditional Japanese architecture and ornate wooden carvings. The shrine is also famous for its 'tsukubai' stone basin, where visitors can purify themselves before entering the inner sanctum.
Historical note
It was originally dedicated to Prince Ato, who was said to have been a prince of the Tachibana clan.
