Located in the heart of Gunma Prefecture, Eight Horses Shrine (Hachimantai) is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and patron deity of samurai. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance as a site where the famous Genpei War between the Taira and Minamoto clans took place in 1180. Hachiman, also known as Okami, is revered for his power to protect warriors and bring victory in battle.

Visitor tip
