阿波阿須疑神社

Ishikawa

Located in the city of Kanazawa, Hokuriku region, Abura Aushi Jinja is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of the sea and agriculture. The shrine's name, Arpa Aushi, roughly translates to 'sea and rice fields.' Visitors can see traditional Japanese architecture, including a haiden (main hall) and a honden (main shrine). The shrine is also famous for its beautiful gardens and nearby beaches.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

Abura Aushi Jinja is said to be a sacred site for fishermen and farmers. During the annual Sea Festival, participants reenact an ancient ritual in which people dressed in fisherman costumes perform a prayer ceremony for safe fishing trips.

Historical note

The shrine was originally founded in the Edo period, but its current structure dates back to the Meiji period.
