The Raigedan Shrine, located in the town of Meguro in Gunma Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Raijin, the god of lightning. The shrine's name, 'Raigedan', literally translates to 'Lightning God Temple'. According to legend, Raijin was said to have taken residence at the shrine after being banished from other temples due to his mischievous nature. Visitors can witness a striking lightning-shaped archway above the shrine entrance, believed to be a manifestation of Raijin's power. Despite its modern appearance, the shrine maintains traditional Shinto architecture and practices, making it a unique cultural experience for those visiting.
