Visitor tip
To enhance your visit, bring a small gift of rice or sake to offer at the shrine's temizuya, a traditional water fountain used for purification.
Cultural notes
As one of the shrines dedicated to Hachiman Okami, the god of war and patron deity of the samurai class, Nabemonia is believed to possess protective qualities. During the annual Hachiman Matsuri festival, held in May, locals reenact the legend of Hachiman's search for a sword.
