Cultural notes
According to local legend, Yata no Osafune was said to have forged the legendary sword Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi for the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine's architecture reflects this connection to the divine, with its distinctive Horyu-ji-style roof and beautifully manicured gardens.
Historical note
Established in 1608 during the Edo period, White Mountain Shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by fire in 1614.
