Located in the city of Omi-ya, Shiga Prefecture, Horyu-ji-jinja is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Jinmu and Prince Shotoku, revered as kami for their wisdom and governance. Founded during the Asuka period (approximately 592 CE), it is one of Japan's oldest temples and shrines.

Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its historical significance and architectural style. In addition to Emperor Jinmu and Prince Shotoku, it also enshrines other kami such as Fudo Myo-o, the 'Mudra of Indestructibility', and Ryujin, the Dragon God. The shrine's main hall is a classic example of Heian-period architecture.
