Located in the town of Daisen, in the province of Sagamihara, Kanto region, is the Shitakeji-hachiman Shrine, a small but historic Shinto temple dedicated to the deity Hachiman, known as the god of war and patron deity of travelers. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Kamakura period styles.

Visitor tip
Visitors can try local specialty sake and traditional sweets at the on-site teahouse, located near the main shrine entrance.
Cultural notes
This shrine is one of the few Shinto temples that features a unique architectural style known as 'yabutsu no kagura', which depicts various animals in intricate stone carvings. The site also hosts annual Hachiman's Day festival, celebrated on August 8th.
