Cultural notes

As one of the three major shrines in Toyama, Eight-Horned Shrine is associated with the deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto, a powerful kami often invoked for protection and good fortune. The shrine also participates in the annual Cherry Blossom Viewing Festival (Hanami) to celebrate the blooming of its famous cherry blossom trees.

Historical note

The shrine was established during the Kamakura period in 1185 by Emperor Go-Toba.
