Tadayu Shrine, located in the Tatsuno district of Hyogo Prefecture, is dedicated to the Shinto god of fire and blacksmiths, the Sun Goddess Amaterasu's twin, Susanoo, also known as and , or in Japanese. The shrine is one of few shrines dedicated to a deity other than the Imperial Family. It is believed that the shrine was built by the ancient inhabitants of the Tatsuno area, who were skilled blacksmiths and craftsmen.

Visitor tip
To appreciate the shrine's unique architecture, visit at sunrise or sunset when the setting sun casts a warm glow over the buildings.
Cultural notes
Susanoo is also associated with the storm god and the sea. The shrine hosts a annual Shinto festival in June to honor Susanoo, during which visitors can enjoy traditional food, drinks, and crafts.
