Cultural notes

In Tokushima Prefecture, it is customary to make an offering of sake and rice balls (chankonabe) to the kami during the spring equinox festival, which honors the arrival of spring and the new harvest season. The shrine also hosts a traditional Japanese dance performance called 'Shikoku Odori' in honor of its patron deity.

Historical note

The shrine was rebuilt in 1606 after being destroyed during the Sengoku period.
