Ishikawa

Katsurahama Shrine, located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, is one of Japan's most famous and historic Shinto shrines. Dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman, it is said that the shrine was founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE). The shrine complex features a beautiful garden, traditional architecture, and several festivals throughout the year. Visitors can explore the shrine grounds, which include a museum and several shops selling local crafts and souvenirs.

Historical note

The shrine was rebuilt in 1616 after being destroyed during the Shimabara Rebellion of 1600.
