Located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, the Ōmagami Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Okinagikuni no Kami, the celestial sun goddess and one of the three sacred imperial deities of Japan. The shrine's name "Ōmagami" roughly translates to "Great Mirror", symbolizing its importance as a reflecting mirror for divine wisdom.

Cultural notes
Ōmagami Shrine is associated with the mythology of Amaterasu, who was said to have reflected her light into a bronze mirror for a time, creating the sun. This mythological connection is still celebrated during the shrine's annual New Year's festival, known as Ōmisoka.
