Ishikawa

The shrine of no-sei-ja, a Shinto shrine located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. This shrine is dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman, who is revered for his protection and strength. The shrine's architecture reflects the traditional Japanese style, with a haiden (main hall) and a honden (sanctuary). Cultural notes

No-sei-ja is associated with the mythology of Hachiman, a Shinto god of war and patron deity of samurai. The shrine is also known for its unique ritual called the 'Sai no Kuni' which marks the beginning of the New Year. During this ceremony, the head priest rings a large bell 108 times to purify the mind and bring good luck.
