Cultural notes
This shrine is said to be connected to the mythology of the fire god Hiko-Mikoto, who is revered for his role in protecting people from fires. Visitors can experience the unique festival tradition, called 'Kobushi-matsuri', which takes place on New Year's Day, where devotees beat drums and throw sacred rice balls into a fire.
Historical note
Established in 1833 during the Edo period, it was rebuilt after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1897.
