Located in the Okayama Prefecture, 栗原神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of rice and prosperity. The shrine's main hall, built during the Edo period, features a unique black lacquer exterior. Inside, visitors can explore the main hall and surrounding shrines, which are said to be inhabited by various regional kami.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Stacks of rice offerings are left at the shrine to ensure a bountiful harvest. In May, the shrine hosts the 'Sangetsu Matsuri', a festival honoring the kami of prosperity and fertility.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1874 after its original wooden structure burned down.
