八幡宮

Gunma

Located in the city of Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Eight Horseshoe Shrine (Hachimangū) is a revered Shinto site dedicated to the god Hachiman, patron deity of warriors and travelers. With its complex history dating back to the Nara period, this shrine has been rebuilt several times due to wars and fires, with the current structure from 1871. The shrine's unique architectural style, featuring a vermilion torii gate and wooden pavilions, reflects its historical significance as a resting place for samurai on their way to battle.
