古城天満宮

Gunma

Ancient Kusatsu Onsen town is home to the historic Toshogu Shrine, but in Gunma Prefecture lies an equally ancient Ancient Castle Shinto Shrine, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami (Tennš no Kami). This shrine has a long history dating back to 718 AD. The shrine's architectural style reflects the traditional Heian period (794-1185 AD), with its main hall featuring a distinctive curved roof and sliding doors made of Japanese cypress.
