Located in the town of Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture, Shibukawa Hachiman Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of war and protector, Hachiman. Dating back to the Heian period, the shrine has undergone numerous transformations and renovations over the centuries. Today, it remains an important cultural and historical landmark in the region.

Cultural notes
The shrine is associated with the legend of Hachiman, who was said to have appeared to Prince Osacake in search of his mother's family shrine. According to local tradition, the shrine's image of Hachiman is adorned with a distinctive pair of wings.

The shrine was originally built during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), but its current structure dates back to the Kamakura period (1185-1333 CE).
