Located in the city of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, Eight Humps Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto, known as the 'god of storms'. The shrine is famous for its 8-meter-tall stone statue of Susanoo-no-Mikoto with eight humps on his head. According to legend, Susanoo-no-Mikoto created the humps using his magical powers.

Cultural notes
Eight Humps Shrine is known for its unique architecture and mythological connections. It's said that Susanoo-no-Mikoto was banished from heaven by his brother, Amaterasu, and that he created the humps on his head as a result of his anger. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in May to celebrate Susanoo-no-Mikoto's power.
