Visitor tip
To respectfully pray at the shrine, arrive early to join the morning 'Hatsumode' procession where devotees carry offerings of sake and sweet rice cakes to purify themselves before prayer.
Cultural notes
Eight Horses Temple Shrine is famous for its 'Hachiman Matsuri', a festival honoring Inari Okami held every year on August 10th. During this celebration, participants reenact the legendary battles between the Shinto god Hachiman and Chinese invaders.
