Resurrection God Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Nagasaki, dedicated to the worship of Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Inari Okami. The shrine was built in 1688 to commemorate the arrival of a ship from Nagasaki that brought gifts for the god Susanoo no Mikoto.

Visitor tip

Visit the shrine's main hall on 11th November to witness the festival celebrating the founding of the shrine, and enjoy traditional Nagasaki cuisine at the food stalls nearby.

Cultural notes

The shrine is famous for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture. The deity Susanoo-no-Mikoto was said to have created the universe by striking his divine sword, and Inari Okami is the god of rice and fertility. During the festival season, the shrine's gates are decorated with paper lanterns, symbolizing the light guiding people towards their desired outcomes.
