Ise Grand Shrine, located in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, is one of Japan's most revered Shinto shrines. Visitor tip
To make a purifying offering at the shrine, tie your shoes in front of the torii gate before entering, as it is customary not to enter with tied shoelaces.

The Ise Shrine complex includes several festival sites and shrines dedicated to other kami, including Fujin and Raijin, the wind god and lightning god. The shrine's unique architecture and beautiful gardens make it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.
Historical note
The original Ise Shrine was built around 690 AD and has since undergone numerous renovations, with the current structure dating back to 1955.
