Cultural notes
The shrine is known for its unique wooden bridge, which spans a small stream running through the garden. This bridge, called Ōishi no Hashi, is said to have been built by Prince Kōji himself before his death in battle. The shrine also hosts an annual festival, the Matsue Hachiman Matsuri, which honors the deity of war and protector of the imperial family.
