Aomori

Cultural notes

Matsubushi Shrine is connected to the legend of the 'three treasures' (sabaki), which are said to be a fish, a shell, and a pearl. According to myth, these treasures were hidden by the god Matsubushi Okami in a cave near the shrine, and can still be found today.

Historical note

The shrine was established in 1667 during the Edo period and has since been restored several times to maintain its original architecture.
