Shirayamahime-jinja shrine

白山姫神社

Located in western Japan, the Shirayamahime-jinja shrine is dedicated to Princess Shirayama-hime, a legendary figure from Japanese folklore who is said to have been banished from her kingdom by her jealous stepmother. According to myth, she was left to die on Mount Koya, but instead of dying, she transformed into a white deer and roamed the forest, eventually becoming the kami of the mountain.
