Located in the city of Munakata, Fukuoka Prefecture, Munakata Grand Shrine Nakatsu-gū honden is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the sea god Ōkamisanzen no Kamado, as well as the deified spirits of the gods Susanoo and Amaterasu. The shrine's grand hall, honden, features a unique wooden construction style known as 'tōkyō,' characteristic of traditional Japanese architecture. Visitors can explore the surrounding grounds, including the historic Nakatsu Shrine Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Shinto artifacts and exhibits on local history and culture.
