Mitsumine-jinja Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located in the scenic Gunma prefecture, but it was originally established at what is now Saitama. The current building dates back to the 17th century and is known for its beautiful wooden architecture and tranquil atmosphere. As one of Japan's oldest shrines, Mitsumine-jinja Shrine has been an important site for the local community for centuries.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Mitsumine-jinja Shrine is enshrined with the kami of Ryujin, the Dragon God, as well as several other deities associated with fertility and prosperity. The shrine hosts an annual New Year (Oshogatsu) festival in January, which features traditional games and activities for visitors of all ages.
Historical note
It was relocated from what is now Gunma prefecture in the late Edo period to Saitama due to urban development.
