Located in Akita Prefecture, Eight Branches Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of the eight branches of the Yoshino cypress tree, which were believed to be created by the god Susanoo-no-Mikoto. The shrine is known for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture. In Japanese folklore, the eight branches are said to have been used to bind together the heavens and the earth.
