Located in the heart of Akita, Kogen Shinmeisha is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the worship of Ryujin, the Dragon God and guardian deity of the city's waterways. Founded during the Nara period, the shrine boasts a unique blend of traditional and modern architectural styles, featuring a large stone torii gate flanked by vermilion lanterns. The shrine complex is surrounded by scenic Kogen Mountain, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
