八坂神社

Located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Eight Gates Shrine is one of the oldest and most important shrines in Japan. Dedicated to Ninjō-sai (the god of eight gates), a kami associated with road safety and protection, the shrine has played a significant role in Japanese history as a sacred site for traveling merchants and warriors. Its unique architecture reflects the importance of Ninjō-sai, with two pairs of gate posts facing northwards and southwards, representing balance and harmony.
