三輪明神

Shiga

Located in the city of Nagahama, Hieizan Sanbo-in Shrine is dedicated to three deities: the Sun Goddess Amaterasu (Hihotsu-no-mikoto), the Moon Goddess Tsukiyomi (Takehisa-hime), and the Storm God Susanoo-no-Mikoto. These three kami are believed to have been enshrined at this site since the 8th century.

文化的背景

This shrine is known for its beautiful garden and traditional Japanese architecture. It is also famous for being the site of the legendary 'Battle of Yashima', a major naval battle between Japan and China in 1281 that was said to have been won by a bolt of lightning, with the storm god Susanoo-no-Mikoto believed to have played a role.

歴史

The shrine was rebuilt in 1899 after being destroyed by fire, with many of its original structures dating back to the Edo period.
