Reshūji Jinja, located in Akita Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the sun god, Amaterasu Ōmikami. The shrine's name, 住吉神社, translates to 'Sun Goddess Shrine' or 'Shrine of the Sun Goddess.' It is believed that the shrine was founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE), although its exact founding era is unknown.
