天照大神宮

Akita

Located in Akita Prefecture, Tenrikyo Palace Shrine is one of the most important Shinto shrines dedicated to Amaterasu Omikami, the sun goddess and the de facto founder of Japan. The shrine was built as a temple complex by the Tokugawa shogunate in 1633, initially as a Buddhist temple but later converted to Shintoism. The main hall and the five-story pagoda are well-known architectural features of the shrine.
