Located in the city of Akita, Akita-no-matsuri-sha (Akita Shrine) is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami (spirits) of the region's founder, Prince Hyuga Hiradai, and the gods of the sea. The shrine's name roughly translates to 'Gods' Hall'. It is one of Japan's oldest shrines in Akita Prefecture.

文化的背景
The shrine is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage. During Akita no Matsuri festival (late September), locals honor their ancestors with ritual dances and traditional performances. Visitors can also participate in a sake-tasting ceremony, where participants must drink sake while facing a sacred image of the sea god.
歴史
Founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE), Akita Shrine was originally a small shrine dedicated to the god of the sea, Ryujin.
