Overview

Yuen Bettei Daita brings the calm of a mountain-village hot spring to central Tokyo, just 10 minutes from the city centre. Guests can linger over tea in serene rooms, unwind in the large baths, and savour Japan's seasonal cuisine. Setagaya Daita was once covered in tea fields and long favoured by writers, and the ryokan is rooted in that history. A green walking path leads from the ryokan toward Shimokitazawa, a neighbourhood full of individual shops and theatres. The open-air bath draws water from the Hakone Ashinoko hot spring source, an alkaline simple spring that is gentle on the skin; the women's bath has a mist sauna with an original aroma and the men's bath a dry sauna. Dining includes the kappo restaurant Tsukikage, named after the final poetry collection of poet Mokichi Saito who spent his later years in Daita, and Saryo Tsukikage, a tea salon by day and bar by night. SOJYU spa offers treatments to deepen relaxation.
