Located in the city of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, White Fox Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice, fertility, and prosperity. The shrine is known for its beautiful architecture and scenic views of the nearby Nagahama harbor. It is also famous for being the final resting place of Mokoto Soga, a loyal samurai who was beheaded in 1615.

Cultural notes
White Fox Shrine is closely tied to the mythology of the fox, a common symbol in Shinto culture. In addition to Inari Okami, other kami enshrined at White Fox Shrine include Fukurokuju, the god of longevity and prosperity.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt during the Edo period (1603-1867).
