Takanawa Shrine, located in the city of Funabashi in Chiba Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine that enshrines the kami Inari Okami. According to legend, the shrine was founded by the sun goddess Amaterasu and her son Susanoo-no-Mikoto during the Nara period (710-794 CE). Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Inari Okami is often depicted as a rabbit or a fox, both symbols of fertility and good fortune in Shinto mythology. The shrine is also famous for its thousand vermilion torii gates, said to represent the thousand blessings of Inari Okami. During the spring equinox festival, visitors can make wishes at the shrines that line the Takanawa River.
